Hyperlinks - How do I apply one destination to multiple hyperlinks?

I feel like I'm missing something really obvious, but I cannot for the life of me figure this out. I am formatting a long document and need to link to a single URL multiple times, from many different text phrases within the document. I have created a hyperlink destination, given it a name and a URL, and now want to apply it. How do I apply it? I have highlighted the text I want to be a link, but now what? If I click (or double-click) on the destination name in the hyperlinks panel, nothing happens, other than I can edit the properties of the destination.

The only way I've been able to figure out how to make hyperlinks from text is to highlight it, click "new hyperlink," and put in the URL manually every single time. Isn't there a shortcut or a way to make the link from the named destination? Isn't that the point of creating the named destination? What am I missing?
