Not a valid Win32 application?

I worked on a new computer that I was going to change to for a couple of days, but it had a problem with the video chip and needed to be returned. So, I uninstalled my Adobe programs, went back to my old computer, reinstalled the programs and now am having some problems.

When I go to a file and double-click on it to open, I get an error message telling me that the file I'm trying to open is "not a valid Win32 application". If I go into InDesign, click on File->Open-> and search for the file and open it, there's no problem. Why won't my computer read the files from the desktop or folder and I'm forced to open them from the program?

This is the first time anything like this has happened.

Thanks for any help,

Sean
