I recently installed the new OS Maverick. Now, I find that if I have InDesign CS6 open but not actually using it for a time (say half and hour), when I come back to trying to use InDesign, it has frozen up and I can't do anything except force close and relaunch the program. Anybody else having this issue? My co-worker also has OS Maverick and CS6 too, but she's not experiencing this issue. I have already reinstalled the program as well, and it's still doing it. I'm literally having to reopen InDesign 5-6 times a day. Any suggestions?

InDesign CC won't save my files
Hi
I've been working in InDesign for a week now and since yesterday I started noticing that at times InDesign won't undo and I am not able to save my file. I keep hitting command + s while working but it just doesn't save or give an error message. If I go on the File menu all the save and save as commands are grayed out. If you close the file and click on the save button InDesign just gives a message that the file cannot be saved. I have to close the file without saving and redo all the work. Because InDesign doesn't give an error when pressing command + s I would do a lot of work under the impression everything gets saved but it doesn't and I keep losing a lot of work.
Also CC runs very slow. There are times when the program just "freezes" for awhile while InDesign does somethings in the background and only after it is done you can start working again. The pages panel takes ages to load the previews onto the pages and while it is doing so I cannot do anything at all.
Starting to think I should have stayed with CS6.

Problematic Story Editor glitch
I'm experiencing an issue in Story Editor that's becoming increasingly problematic.
Basically, the SE window is cutting-off text at the right of tht window. This means that I can't use it for Find / Replace operations, as the highlighted text isn't showing. Resizing the window doesn't help, and I've tried all manner of different fonts to no avail. Resizing the left-hand portion (where styles are shown) doesn't help either, with text being clipped even when it's hidden.
I'm currently editing a book, and as I can't see all the text, I'm going to have to flow text throughout the entire book and use Find / Replace in layout mode, which wastes valuable project time, amongst other things.
Does anyone else have this issue, or a fix?
*UPDATE* This doesn't appear to happen with a single document open, but when I have multiple book file documents open.

Data Merge in newest version of InDesign
Hi all,
Was wondering if anyone can point me to the improvments to Data Merge in the newest version of InDesign (assuming there are some). We are specifically looking for a way to output single PDFs (500 page Data Merged InDesign Document saves as 500 PDF files for example) and each PDF being named using a column from the attached Excel file. I realise that it will be possible to have the javascripted, but was kind of hoping to avoid this with the newest InDesgn.

List reset previous level (InDesign CS6)
When working with numbered Lists i encountered the following problem with resetting the list numbers.
I want to auto number the following list: (This is the correct version as i think it should be)
1 Headline
1.0.1 Text
1.0.2 Text
1.1 Headline
1.1.1 Text
1.2 Headline
1.2.1 Text
2. Headline
2.0.1 Text
2.0.2 Text
And this is what i get:
1 Headline
1.0.1 Text

1.2.1 Text

2.2.1 Text
2.2.2 Text
I can not find a way to reset level 2 when using level 1. For my opinion, the lower level should reset the higher.
Do you have any hints for me?

common custom swatch libraires
I have several custom swatch libraires that I'd like to share among all my Adobe apps & macs. Is there a commom place that I can put them, so I dont have to copy to every Swatch Libraries folder for each app? I'd like to have 1 common place to put them, so that Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign for CS6 & CC would see them. I'm usually adding more custom swatches and was trying to avoid copy to 6 different places, then to multiple machines.

InDesign CC will only let me place images from one directory
I am a print designer and recently switched from a PC to a MacBook Pro. I'm using InDesign CC and it will only let me place images from one directory. If I try and choose another directory, the Finder window just disappears.

Compare InDesign file with ePub
I have a 500-page book in InDesign and I created an ePub out of it. Is there a way I can compare the text of the ePub file with the original InDesign file, like you can compare documents in MS Word to see what the differences are. This way I could easily track down obvious errors in the ePub file, like an omitted sentence, which would help the proofreading of the ePub file. If InDesign doesn't have this functionality perpaps someone knows about a plugin or an third party who could provide this.

CS6: Select multiple objects - Hide border?
Hi!
Lots of our layouters are bothered because of the same thing: If you select multiple objects in CS6, you'll get a border which surrounds all of the selected objects. That way it's quite difficult to see, which items are already selected and which aren't, especially if they are all aligned.
I hope, you understand what I'm talking about. I displayed it in the following screenshot.
The text frame and the yellow frame are selected. The red one isn't but you have to look closely to see that, because there is this thin border spanning over all of the objects, covering the red object, too.
Is it somehow possible to hide / disable this "extra" border? If you have a lot of objects on the page (with backgrounds and everything), the layouters have some problems with seeing what they already selected and what they didn't select yet.

Why do my Horizontal and Vertical page views stay the same?
When I'm setting up a document, I want to view my pages vertically, not in a horizontal spread. When I go to View Pages and click Vertical, and then go to Panel Options and click Vertical, the view should change, but it doesn't. Is there anywhere else I need to check? I uninstalled the program and then re-installed it, but that didn't fix it.

CS6 Indesign files not fully loading
I have just purchased CS6 and created a few InDesign files. Now, on numerous occasions, when I try to open an existing file (not just one particular file), the file doesn't fully load. It shows some of the frame outlines and the graphic "content grabber", but all graphics and text do not load. While this is still trying to load, I can open another InDesign file (within the same ID session) and it's usually OK. Meanwhile the file I tried to open originally still won't load, and if I try to go back to it (or close it), the program stops responding. It doesn't do this every time I open Indesign, but at least 50% of the time.
I have reinstalled CS6, recreated preference files, follwoed every step of the "damaged file" help, but still no resolution. Any ideas please? To add to the scene, I did initially download a trail of InDesignCC, but when I purchased CS6, I uninstalled CC and use the Adobe Cleaner tool. Could this still be having an impact, and if so, how does one completely remove all tracse of the CC version?

Working with Master Templates - can pages inherit elements outside the printable area?
Hi there, I'm working with Master Templates in InDesign and I'm trying to have each page that is assigned a specific Master Template inherit not just the elements in the printable area of the doc, but also element's outside the "page." I'm storing some frequently-used elements in the white space around the page and it would be much easier to have this simply be part of the master. However, it seems that the master only affects the printable page area. Does anyone know how to override this so that pages can inherit elements outside the printable area?

How to Export two different type of images at the same time?
Hi everyone,
I currently work at a company who needs to exporte two different type of images, like Pdf and Jpeg, because they are going at different places.
I found a way but it is long in my opinion. once I finished to build my indesign, I export every images as detached pdf Ex: Autralia Park-01_13832, then I combined them as one Pdf file. by that I save the rest as .Jpg ex: Australia Park-01-13832-Page01 and so forth.
Is there a way or a plugin that could help me to do that all in once? it would save us time.

HELP RGB to CMYK in indesign
HELPPPPP ;(
My project is in indesign and we need all files to be in CMYK... A lot of my linked files from illustrator are showing that they are rgb files. I have tried converting them in illustrator and resaving them and relinking them but they are still showing that they are rgb.... Is there any way I can fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated, it is my final project in my class so its very important.

Baskerville font character questions: lowercase "s" and "t" curls together
Hey folks,
I've been doing a lot of InDesign (CC) work with the baskerville font, but i started noticing something that i don't find too aesthetically appealing: the lowercase "s" and "t" curls together (image below). Is there a way to manually replace this character with the standard "t" that doesn't curl? Or set up something for the specific document i'm working with?
